Dear Fellow Gardener/Farmer,

Last winter, I bought a dozen books on farming and gardening. I thought I settle in for a long winter’s night of reading while snow was on the ground.

The first book I read of the bunch was one by Joel Salatin. I’m in the habit of underlining sentences or paragraphs I find that strike me as important.

I also underline books referenced in case I want to add to my library.

Well, Joel Salatin says “Eliot Coleman says this.”

The next book I opened got around to saying “Eliot Coleman says that”.

The third book I dived into said “Eliot Coleman says blah, blah, blah.”

I finally said, Who the hell is Eliot Coleman?

Finally, I got to the bottom of my stack of books. GUESS WHAT? IT WAS AN ELIOT COLEMAN book. And now I’m hooked.

I can tell you… what every Eliot Coleman says, is worth your time.

Take a look at the video below.

At the 34:56 minute mark, Coleman says…

“A field grower asked me how I could possibly make a living on the small acreage I was farming. He said he was farming 25 acres and it was tough. I said “Well, how many rows of carrots do you get on a 30 inch bed? He said “Two.” I said “Well, I’m getting 12. So you can multiply my one acre by six.” I then said “How many crops a year are you getting?” and he said “One”. Well I’m getting 4 crops a years. So, multiply my 6 acres by 4 and I’ve got 24 acres.”

Coleman is the guru of everyone who wants to get intensive yields on small acres.
